Complete Plastome Sequence of Ludwigia octovalvis (Onagraceae), a Globally Distributed Wetland Plant

Here, we present the first plastome of Ludwigia octovalvis (Onagraceae, Myrtales) as well as the first plastome in the subfamily Ludwigioideae. This genome is notable for its contracted inverted repeat regions and an expanded small single-copy region compared to other species in the orders Myrtales and Geraniales.

Effect of seed age and soil texture on the germination of some Ludwigia species (Onagraceae) in Nigeria

Seed germination in Ludwigia was greatly influenced by seed age and soil type. In Ludwigia abyssinica germination was not influenced by seed age and soil texture. Freshly shed seeds and six month old seeds of Ludwigia decurrens variety B showed a very low percentage germination on all the germination media, and six month old seeds germinated significantly earlier than freshly shed seeds. Some s...

Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activity of Ludwigia octovalvis on Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Some Pathogenic Bacteria

Ludwigia octovalvis (Jacq.) P. H. Raven (Family: Onagraceae) is traditionally used to treat skin diseases, diarrhea and flatulence. This study assayed twelve extracts of L. octovalvis for their total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant and antibacterial activity. The highest TPC at 264.76 ± 0.23 GAE mg/g dry weight and antioxidant activity (evaluated by 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and ferric...
